Fitted with Collar and Chain

December 03, 2003

The collar I bought myself this weekend now fits comfortably around my neck, and I’m finally starting to feel like an animal. Animals are restrained because there’s something wild and ferocious about them — they’ve got a spark of violence in their eyes. And my collar serves the same purpose: it restrains my intensity and maddness, but its very presence highlights the savageness it restrains. Paradoxically then, my restraining device unleashes my deeper, darker self.

I’m slowly changing (again) and Fraser is determined to assist me in my process of Gothification — he too used to be a Goth. We spent the evening drinking a bottle of wine and talking about beautiful things like parallel lines, simplicity, and desire. Fraser used his hands to illustrate his points, and his whispers sounded like soft incantations. Our talk was like a vaguely remembered mystical experience, moving even to the point of tears.

Ahh, Gothification. I used to be… so sad, so sad. I understand completely the feeling of the collar. Psychological restraint and freedom in one piece of costume. “I have chained the beast… don’t fuck with me.” Well - enough said.

I don’t know how I can describe the chains…

They are not wallet or collar chains, the way I used to wear them the drooped from my pants and made metallic sounds as I walked.

I don’t like making people cry, I will have to be more level headed in the future.

Whoa! Josh, you used to be a Goth? And then what happened? Did you have to conform to the regressive standards of the Progressive Conservative Party? Goths certainly don’t fit within the social and economical conservative mindframe the PC party is trying to project.

And Fraser, I didn’t ask you to be more level headed: I enjoy crying ;).

My-my!
Very interesting development, Tudor.
Strap that thing on, and we’ll take a bottle of wine to the park some evening for a little ass-tivity.

I’ve already taken a bottle of wine to the park for a little ass-tivity. But I’d certainly love to do it again. If you bring the wine I’ll take care of the ass ;)

Oh, and in case you missed it, here is a pic of me with makeup on — everything is falling into place.
