Taking Off

January 28, 2004

Encounters with Trevor are always pleasantly random. I was walking through the concourse with a stack of posters under my arm, when he shouted and hit me with strange objects to get my attention. It was Trevor’s magic behind the lense that added depth to my posters, and I was so pleased to see him that I started waving my arms and talking abnormally fast while showing off the results of our experiments with lights and Vaseline. Before I left, I even gave him my autograph.

Yes, the posters are excitingly savage, and I’ve been getting a fair bit of feedback. “Man, I’m going to have nightmares now,” somebody said. If I frighten people enough, maybe they’ll vote for me.

So the campaign is off to a good start: my photo in this week’s Cord doesn’t look atrocious and Stefan Sereda, the Cord’s opinion editor, included my platform in his list of favourites. Just two months ago Stefan nominated me as a terrorist suspect at Laurier because I look like a raving lunatic and also talk like one, so this is quite an improvement. I’m in danger of actually becoming … respectable.

But I didn’t score too high on Stefan’s list. “I would have rated you higher,” he told me this morning, “but there is little substance in your platform.” And he’s quite right. My platforms in previous years were full of fiery intensity and had a lot of depth and scope. Depth and scope tend to confuse voters, so this year I narrowed my platform to a single item. Simplification works.

I suppose I’ll accessoryautograph, as well, but only for COLD HARD CASH ON THE BARREL-HEAD.

I’d love to spread the word and show my support by putting one of your awesome posters up on my door!

Can I also have one? I know me and Kathy are in the same room but we could also have one inside somewheres on one of our walls. ;)

Kathy and Nef … both of you are awesome! Sometime this weekend I’ll print more posters, and you just have to let me know when I can drop them off :).

You can now choose among three different posters … yay.

No, Tudor, YOU are awesome!
I am really looking forward to this.
I’ll talk to Nef and we’ll work something out.

Whoo-dor, what is the thirdesign?
I’ve seen the leopardprintshadowpuppetry, and of course the crossy-McGlamgoth variation…

Third design? You want MORE?! Are you people never satisfied? Hehehe …

I’d love to do a third design, but that will send me over my campaign limit (I only have $125 to play around with).

Consequently, the third design will have to be an “online” sort of thing (unless I can get my limit pushed up).

I sent you an ICQ massage, but I’ll assume you didn’t get it.
Interested in seeing BUS174 at the Princess this evening?
If so, I’ll meet you at the library at 8:40 OR at the cinema itself at 9:15.

Today is bad for me, Trev :(.

“Baby better come back later next week
‘cause you see I’m on losing streak.
I can’t get no … oh no no no.”

I had a feeling that this-week (until-Thursday) wouldn’t be optimal for you….
I’ll TRY AGAIN LATER.
