Sugar
February 04, 2004

In my pockets this morning I found a plastic spoon and two bags of sugar among more mundane objects like crumpled napkins, keys, and receipts. I stopped using sugar and utensils seven months ago. Puzzled, I held the fragile sugar packages in my hand and allowed my mind to drift …
Sugar … sweet … Katie West …
Ah, Katie West bought me tea yesterday, late in the afternoon, as I was slouching on a couch in the Cord office. My day had been dull and exhausting until Katie came into the office with hot tea, a spoon, and two packets of sugar. I put the sugar in my pants, and I felt enormously grateful. Katie is incredibly sweet.
Yesterday’s open forum was less exciting than it should have been, and I felt let down. I expected to have my integrity and ideas challenged, but the question period was boring and uninspiring. Where were all the interesting questions I dreaded? It seems that people were saving their wrath for the presidential race.
But some of my fellow candidates were quite remarkable in the forums, and actually had intelligent things to say. Since tomorrow is voting day, here are the people who will certainly be on my ballot:
Alysia Wyville
Fraser McCracken
Nicholas Murphy
Adria Cehovin
David Alexander
Bernard Dawson
Jodi Dam
Everyone should be making a list, checking it twice, and going out to vote. Tomorrow should be intense, and yes, I will be at drinking Wilf’s in the evening — come join me ;).

A lot of people have been talking about you lately in a very positive light and I’m pretty confident you’ll get your chance to take a stance on the BOD issues this year. I think you’ll do a really good job at representing the student voice as Club Laurier has given you lots of time to discuss and challenge many issues involving Laurier. I think you’ll be a great representative as you are up to date on Laurier news and are well connected to the students. I hope you get your chance to make some change around here and allow a different perspective on the traditionally similar WLUSU voice.
Good luck tomorrow!

(aka >> *Suburbia* I met you once to watch a movie @ Kathy’s Res.)
Katie! Dude! Thanks for the support … and yes, I do remember you and the movie. I just looked in today’s Cord to find too many people saying too many nice things about me: I’ll have a lot to live up to if I get in …
For the first time in ages I’m feeling nervous.

You’ll acheive as much as a member of the BOD as you have with your other projects, Andrew.
