Revolting
February 27, 2004
Surprisingly, my Fringe performance was a lot less stressful than the Board of Directors meeting that followed right after. The stage transformed us all into beautiful creatures striving to destroy each other with pillows, fists, and desire. When the curtain fell, I felt alive and quarrelsome as I started searching for the clothes I took off during the play.
I never managed to find all of my clothes in the dark, so half-naked and shoeless I breathlessly ran through the school to my BOD meeting. I showed up a few minutes early, which gave me just enough time to find a used t-shirt in the Student Publications’ office, but no underwear. Nobody would notice, I thought.
And they didn’t. However, they probably noticed my increasing irritation with the circular and meaningless rhetoric regarding the VP hirings. Under the Ontario Corporations Act, the directors of the corporation are ultimately responsible for appointing the officers of the corporation, so I was stunned to discover that the Students’ Union expects me to blindy rubberstamp this decision without giving me any information about the candidates.
I have little patience for bullshit, so I introduced a motion to force the hiring committee to fully inform us about their decision. My roaring filled the room and I adamantly demanded information and transparency. We debated the issue for nearly an hour, but in the end the motion failed. So next Monday at 7:30 am the board will be presented with a list of names, and little else.
I’ll probably be sleeping at that time — I want to see what sort of decision they’ll be able to reach without quorum. Besides, I need the sleep after a week of fringing myself.
Posted by Tudor at 11:55 AM in Politics | TrackBackI’m glad I voted for you Tudor. Despite all this shit that I hear about on this blog, I know you’re gonna be one hell of a director.
As one of the students of WLU, keep up the good work!

Posted by: andrew on February 27, 2004 at 05:41 PMDamn right. You’re keeping us all informed.
Posted by: Kathy on February 28, 2004 at 06:33 PMThanks for putting all this faith in me, but I’m not sure how much I can accomplish, especially since a lot of people seem to oppose me. At times I’m dreadfully disillusioned with WLUSU.
But yes, I’ll continue to make noise!
Posted by: Tudor on February 28, 2004 at 07:39 PMNot me. Tudor, I hate you!
Love,
