What now?

April 26, 2004

Summertime fills me with a vast sense of emptiness. Warm and listless are the days of summer, and utterly devoid of people and ecstasy. To disrupt the endless stream of meaningless days, this summer I resolve to do the following:

1. Get abducted by Zorianna, who will share with me space, time, and intensity
2. Write an uninteresting book and give it a fantastically interesting name — maybe I can fool everyone
3. Go to Sarnia — most lovely people I know are vaguely connected with that place
4. Create web spaces and get paid
5. Bike to Stratford to see Amy, the river, and the city — maybe she’ll help me understand Shakespeare
6. Orgasm repeatedly every day
7. Swim
8. Read something other than porn
9. Dream of Mexico, that dusty and impossible dream

Gee, Tudor, I’m a little flattered, seeing as I’m from Sarnia. It’s a lovely place to visit if you want hot, humid days and cool nights floating in the lake, or evenings watching sunsets listening to languid music. Sometimes, when the weather is right, I’m reminded of Mexico, well, really just South America, coastal South America, when the sunset is red over the lake. *sigh* Too bad 4 months is a bit long to just visit a place.

Actually, I was thinking of you when I wrote that, and I was also thinking of all the other wonderful people I know who are all connected with Sarnia in some way. Sarnia must be densely packed with marvelous creatures. Oh brave new world that hath such beauteous people in it!

And yes, your description of it sounds just lovely — sunsets and languor and everything!

My experience with Sarnia has been more like Mexico City with neon-green skylines and a chemically-induced humidity in the air.

Perhaps your Sarnia is more rural than the one I experienced. I was frankly rather disturbed by the vast amounts of evil corporations in chemical valley. Perhaps there’s even some sort of beauty in the juxtaposition of the country-scape and the multinationals that are raping that very land.

Why be the abductee when you can be the abductor? When you write your book, please call it the Tudor equation and then inform WLU PR.

As for the daily orgasm:

Abductor!? Hell yeah — I could even write a book about that. Tam’s mother would love it — she’ll be the first to know about my literary endeavors ;).

Where is Sarnia and why can’t you go to Mexico. Interesting Hate Mail.

Sarnia (I just had to check on a map) is at the exact point where Lake Huron transforms itself into a river.

As for Mexico, my friend and I dreamt of going there when we were drunk and naked in his kitchen, and like all drunk and naked dreams we’re not sure if it’s going to happen. It might, but until we get to cross the border into Mexico the destination will remain somewhat unreal.

Don’t dream, Tudor. Do!
