Pretending to be Cohen

June 03, 2004

Zorianna’s asleep next door and I’m wild with excitement. She arrived in town at sunset, and we wandered through Kitchener at night laughing wildly, until we ended up in the park with a bottle of wine between our legs. Since neither of us had a corkscrew, we used her car keys to open the bottle, wine splashing on our hands and faces. There, in the dark, we were happy and talkative.

Tomorrow’s her graduation. I’ll pretend to be her father (or Leonard Cohen).

Father/Cohen you were more than wonderful. Many many thanks again and again.
