Pink Letters, Roses and PI
October 02, 2004
My loves gave me roses, pink love notes, and photos of aprons; because I wanted more they also gave me orgasms over phone lines, hours of conversation, and tours of PI.
First, Martha’s letter arrived in the mail, neon pink and scribbled with love. Then Simon arrived on my doorsteps with a red rose in his hand. “I’ve never give you a rose before,” he said. The morning was rainy and overcast, and I suddenly felt overwhelmed and pleasantly sleepy.
I was still sleepy by the time Simon and I reached the Perimeter Institute, a photographic wonder placed in the centre of Waterloo. We walked though the black and white corridors for hours, peering through crevices into abysses of light. And once the rain stopped we drank coffee slouched in armchairs at the Huether.
The coffee wasn’t enough to wake me up, so late in the evening I phoned Martha. She now has a new haircut and a new use for her aprons. “I need you madly,” I said. She told me how to photograph animal testicles. That sent me over the edge.

Bugger! I’m dying to get in there sometime, see what they have cooped up, much like the BELLTOWER UNIVERSE-UNDERSTANDING Foundation on King.

The clocktower on King was the institute’s temporary location — they’ve now moved to PI taking with them all the secrets of the universe.
