The Things They Thought Me
November 08, 2004

I learned three wonderful things today:
1. If you bike through a snowfall, ice pellets will jab your eyeballs with savage intensity. I learned this while rushing to school to drop two courses. Today was the last day for course drops and I like living on the edge. Sweet fuck, what’s that in my class schedule? A gaping void.
2. E-Biz has no notion of artistic expression. I learned this from the Samantha Kafato, the president of the club, who suggested that my website “violates certain regulations of the university,” and thus cannot be included in the website contest. In her opinion, this blog is harassing, obscene, and vulgar. I told her that university policies are in place to foster artistic expression and scholarship, not to stifle creativity. E-Biz is still wrong.
3. For a poet, Allen Ginsberg looks good naked. I learned this from Dave, who started talking about Ginsberg and his visit to Laurier some 20 years ago. The web is full of Ginsberg pornography and the pictures of him likely violate Laurier’s harassment policies in some people’s views. I wonder how Dr. J. got away with inviting the crazy, naked poet on such an anal-retentive campus?
