Say Something Nice
November 14, 2004
After Scrabble and coffee, I went home and wrote exceedingly nice things about myself. I’m applying for teachers’ college and they want to see enthusiasm, excitement. They want also to get a sense of who I really am. “My penis is so big I need two hands to masturbate,” I said.
If that won’t get me in, I’m sure this video will.

Posted by: Ikabod on November 14, 2004 at 08:03 PM“Whatever for” indeed?! I’ve been asking myself this the whole weekend as I completed my applicant profiles.
After a lot of thinking, I realized that I like teaching — the whole idea of sharing and creating knowledge turns me on. Besides, I’ve been doing a lot of it in some form (everything from tutoring at the Writing Centre to TAing). And I also have two teacheables (English and Computer Science), which would make me a strong applicant (hopefully).
I’m excited about the competition. I’m applying to UofT, York, and Brock. Where are you headed?
Posted by: Tudor on November 14, 2004 at 08:18 PMWestern, Queens and Nipissing. Then Lakehead and Windsor as my “last resort” type choices, reason being that they are the furthest away from home and KW. I like being close to both of these places if possible. It will be an adventure I’m sure. Best of luck Tudor. I’d love to be there when York interviews you. Do you have a portfolio of pictures? I’m sure that would go over quite well, certainly it would shake things up!
Posted by: Ikabod on November 15, 2004 at 01:11 AMI like being close to Toronto — for obvious reasons. Good luck with your applications too (maybe when we grow up, we can teach in the same school!)
And yes, I’ll consider your suggestion of bringing in a slide-show during the York interview.
Posted by: Tudor on November 15, 2004 at 10:01 AMWhen did Nipissing get close to KW? or Queen’s for that matter?
Posted by: Captain Poultry on November 15, 2004 at 11:27 PMIkabod probably meant to Barrie.
Posted by: Craig on November 16, 2004 at 09:43 AMAh man! You mean Tudor isn’t going to teach ESL in South Korea for a year first? I was so looking forward to hearing about his many crazy encouters in Southeast Asia, & the numerous ways he learned to say “penis” there (ie. Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, etc.).
