Fix up the Fuck up Day
November 16, 2004
Saturday at 11:30 PM I realized I was screwed. That’s when I looked at the computer science courses offered next semester and realized I wouldn’t be able to graduate — I didn’t have the prerequisites for any of the courses listed.
In darkness I whimpered. “Maybe I should stop dropping courses,” I said. The sound forming in the back of my throat was pathetic and subhuman as I desperately clutched my mouse. I didn’t want to come back to Laurier for another year. I wanted to go out into the world and do great and loving deeds. All of my wonderful plans collapsed in one instant.
And then Monday came. Sunshine. I went into the computer science office and banged my head on tables. Eventually the chair of the department nodded and sent me to seek approval from another prof. And after a lot of begging and please for compassion, I’m enrolled in CP467 (computer vision). I can graduate. Life is good. Tonight I danced naked in my room.

Why do you not feel free to post those who comment on your site?
Curiousity compells me.

Posted by: Mike on November 16, 2004 at 10:48 AMI’m sorry, I lied. I’m in computer vision (CP467) not computer graphics (CP411). My mistake — I fixed it above. So no Mike in my course :(.

Posted by: Shirley on November 16, 2004 at 03:49 PMGood luck with it…if its your thing. I never took it myself but I hear its quite difficult.
—Now updating my work-related journal. We’ll see how long I can keep it up.
I too will mourn the days of Tudor Costache when they are over!
Posted by: Rick on November 17, 2004 at 12:11 PMI’m quite nervous about CP467 too — it’s interesting but it will involve some pretty complex math to create an optical character recognition system :(. Luckily I’ll get a little help from my friends as far as the math goes.
And you won’t have to miss me too much — I live in Waterloo, so I’ll be back often!
