Puppies
May 18, 2005
The phone rang early yesterday morning and I answered in my sexy, raspy voice. “We’re coming over with the puppy!” the voice at the other end announced as I struggled into my clothes.
Twenty minutes later, Meghann and Vince came on my lawn with their new puppy, a skinny and sleepy bundle of fur that didn’t yet have a name. Until that morning I only knew Meghann through her livejournal — internet people are lovely even in real life. And they’re also strangely connected with pieces of my past (her boyfriend Vince and I went to high school together).
We talked about strange connections as her puppy rolled happily on the grass and tried to eat my bushes. “I want a shrubbery,” she seemed to say. “And a name.” We petted her belly and took puppy pictures. “We should call her ‘Cow,’” I offered.
“Do you want a shrubbery for the road?” I asked. ” One that looks nice?”
I was eager to shove leaves into their pockets. They declined with a smile and left for Kingston with their puppy, who now has a wonderful name: Hannah Bish Jackson (she puts me in traction).
Someday soon I’m biking to Kingston.
P.S. I swear this is becoming a dog blog.

And there is a place for Tudor to stay in Kingston should he ever need one..right under the plush stuffed moose head and next to the mannequin legs. Come on over!
(she also knows her fractions.)
