Working Blues

June 15, 2005

I’m not used to having a steady job — this work thing is sucking up most of my mornings and afternoons. Suddenly, my mental space is occupied by marketing surveys, literacy brochures, business reports, and mail-merge. Oh, mail-merge is the devil, let me tell you. I spend entire days coxing it into doing things I like, and by the time I get home I’m so exhausted I need a nap.

On some days I want to go back to the end of the unemployment line. But my job also keeps me perversely happy with coffee, with grapes, with conferences, and with a thousand visions of marketing brochures. Besides, I need the money to pay for shit.
