Problems All Melt Away

Interesting tidbit about my work: I get paid to listen to people’s problems. And I have to take ownership of their problems. “Let’s see what we can do about that, Mr. Smith.”
This is as profound as it is disturbing.

Just what people need. Another outlet for their misguided belief that they need not be held accountable for their own choices and situations. I agree that it is profound and disturbing. Profound as you realize how desperate people are to shift accountability. disturbing when you realize how relieved they are that you- someone they don’t know, and let’s face it, may be a complete psycho or doddering idiot- has agreed to take said accountability. i shudder for humanities prospects.
