Smashy-Smashy Time
December 24, 2005
Somewhere in the land of twitching Christmas ornaments, a sketchy bookseller was peddling cheap copies of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I bought one on impulse, and last night in a couple of hours I devoured the first few chapters without blinking. It’s really good shit — Alice in Wonderland with a cosmic bent. Each sentence is random and surprising and yet perfectly logical. But you probably knew all that.
What you didn’t know is that I like writing that smashes up the tiny neurons inside my head.

They are hilarious as well.
Posted by: Redune on December 26, 2005 at 09:13 PMha! I didn’t even know about the BBC miniseries … I’ll most certainly have to watch that. Thanks for the tip Redune!
Posted by: Tudor on December 27, 2005 at 01:37 AMI read it for the first time when I was 14. I literally rolled off the bed I was laughing so hard. But I do believe that my fave book was ‘So Long and Thanks for All the Fish’. When you get there I suggest you read it out loud to Laura(:
Posted by: spindriftdancer on December 29, 2005 at 10:38 PMI’ve been reading it incessantly for the last couple of days, and each page is funnier and more surprising than the one before. I can’t wait to get to “So Long …”
I’ll definitely drag Laura into this :)
Posted by: Tudor on December 30, 2005 at 12:24 AMWhat’s really funny is watching my dad rediscover M*A*S*H! He’s been resisting watching it for about 6 months, and now he’s munching his way through them at a ferocious rate. Good thing we’re all the way up to season 9…
