The Elephant, He Told Me So
January 31, 2006
I wasn’t going to do it this year, but somehow I ended up inheriting my Visionary Indian Friend’s DSLR after he acquired some bitching ocular implants. And let me tell you, this rebel is a splendid, monstrous machine that comes with a lens significantly larger than most of my body parts. I swear, I’m overcompensating!
I’ve spent the last several days communing with my new piece of technology in primordial ways (mainly by taking pictures of my toes). Now I’m just waiting for the day when we’ll strap our (multiple) cameras to our naked bodies and do something exciting in rubber boots.
Riverwalking is the gift of the gods.

That’s a nice big lens you got there, stud.
Posted by: Laura on January 31, 2006 at 11:52 PMAnd you LAUGHED at me when I made you come over to see my Rebel so many moons ago!
Now you repeat that laughter - though with a more maniacal and vicarious husk! Your fingers clench wildly as you squeeze every last frame from its pulsating RAM buffer!
Don’t deny it!
Welcome to the wild and wacky world of the DSLR. It’s an awesome camera. I loved mine. Of course, now you’ll have to sell your unborn chidren for more lenses. ;)
Posted by: martin on February 01, 2006 at 12:08 AMThat’s right, Trevor! I laugh at everything, but now with more purpose (and pulsating RAMS)! Oh, this will be great.
As for more lenses, I wasn’t planning on selling my unborn children. Only my body.
Posted by: Tudor on February 01, 2006 at 12:43 PMI guess that means I will no longer be able to afford your services. Shucks.
Posted by: Laura on February 01, 2006 at 01:18 PMI dunno. we might be able to work something out and go into this baby-selling business together. martin, you are genius!
Posted by: Tudor on February 01, 2006 at 01:20 PMYes! Becoming a production machine for phallic apparatus has always been one of my little life’s dreams!
Posted by: Laura on February 01, 2006 at 01:56 PMIt’s a hidden thing… don’t tell anyone. Being stupid is SO much easier. :)
Posted by: martin on February 01, 2006 at 06:17 PMSuper-congrats Tudor! And, if you go and clean up rivers for fun you deserve all the good Karma life can deliver!(:
Have you seen ‘Spirited Away’ by Miyazaki? If you haven’t, then I suggest you go out and find it right away…
Posted by: spindriftdancer on February 01, 2006 at 09:19 PMThe effect is that it sorta looks like your hands shrunk somehow, between cameras… nudity has its costs, I guess!
