A Preference for Rust
March 15, 2006
Kathy’s mom is awesome! Not only did she thoroughly enjoy my book of adventures and naked bottoms, but she also wants me to grab Laura and go for a visit one day.
“But I don’t even know her,” I told Kathy yesterday when I met her.
“Oh, she loves you more than me anyhow. She probably wouldn’t mind if you decided to move right in.”
I was slightly thrilled by the possibility of living in Harrow, one of those hidden places of the world that has everything I crave: farms, recreational drug users, and rusty machinery. In the summer, the skies are full of boredom. Kathy assured me that most people try to run far away from Harrow before their heads explode. On the plus side, the village is right next to one of those great lakes, and its name is filled with sorrow.
“Tell her I’ll stop by in July,” I said. “I dig rust.”

Posted by: spindriftdancer on March 15, 2006 at 01:39 PMActually it’s not. There’s a town called Harrowsmith in Ontario: http://tinyurl.com/k8wcg and I’m pretty sure it started there. My super keeps asking me about that too.
Trust me, if someone in Harrow had written a magazine that popular I’d be hearing about it all the time. They still talk my ear off about Heaton’s and how awesome he is. My highschool accounting teacher would talk of little else. He seems to think that Brian’s success was all his doing.

Any time you’re mentioned she gets all excited and starts talking about you visiting, so the summer should be interesting. If you’re up for it, you can meet my grandma. Though I must warn you, she’ll ask a tonne of annoying questions about your job and stuff. She drives Dean nuts.
