Stretching my Range
June 28, 2008
Once upon the time, our personal Jesus captured images on sheets of plastic coated with an emulsion containing light-sensitive silver halide salts. His light-capture devices were entirely manual and exquisitely shiny. Once the images were developed from the negatives, he would then painstakingly digitize them and upload them to teh internets.
And we used to laugh and laugh. “Your technology is quaintly antiquated,” we said. “We can’t be bothered to wait for film. Give us instant gratification instead! Orgies! Pixelated gentials!”
But he held firm. And recently I came to realize he was right.
You see, two weeks ago I picked up a rangefinder for $3 from my favourite place in the world. Man the little beast has tons of flair and is fantastically moody! Film is still a vibrant, awesome medium. Thank god!

I can’t argue with cheap.
